| About the labels |
| Q. Is there a minimum order?
|
A. There is no minimum
order! You may order as few as one sheet of labels. |
Q. How much do the
labels cost? |
A. All labels are
$7 per sheet and Hang Tags are $13 per sheet, unless otherwise noted.
|
|
Q. How do the labels come?
|
A. Labels and collars
come by the sheet, with 2 to 45 labels per sheet, depending on their
size. They are printed with waterproof inks on adhesive-backed paper.
We use high-resolution printing on matte-coated paper for fine detail,
rich color, and a satin finish. The labels are pre-cut, and you
simply peel the individual labels off the sheet and affix them to
your container. Hang tags come individually cut in sets of 12 or
36, with pre-punched holes and matching 12-inch strings (in pearl
white, or gold/yellow, not metallic). Hang tags come only on white
card stock, the backs are plain white. If you would like something
printed on the back, we can print in black ink for a per sheet charge
of $5. |
Q. Can I see a proof of my labels before you
print them?
|
A. YES, If you order at least ten (10) sheets of labels or five (5) sets of hang tags, you will receive a Free Proof. Also, if we have any questions - no matter what size your
order - we will email you the question or a proof of your label.
You are also welcome to write your specific instructions in the
message box provided on the order page. Our goal is to provide you
with labels that you absolutely love and that work perfectly for
you! |
Q. Why can't you show
me when I place my order, what my labels will look like with my
words?
|
A. Our labels are
not created instantly by computer programs. They are custom created
by designers who take great pride in making each label a work of
art. We start by carefully adjusting type size, letter spacing and
line spacing to be sure your words fit the space and the label is
balanced and beautiful. Then our Art Director inspects each label,
makes final adjustments, and gives final approval for production.
|
|
Q. What will the labels adhere
to?
|
A. Glass, plastic,
metal, wax, paper, fabric, wood, Jars, bottles, bags, boxes. Labels
are easily removable from glass, metal, and wax, but they are not
removable from paper or wood. The adhesive bond becomes stronger
as it ages. You can reposition a label for up to several hours,
after that you can soak them in hot water to loosen them so they
come off easily. |
Q. Are the labels waterproof?
|
A. Yes,
but not entirely. When wet, the paper remains strong and
the inks do not run. Freshly applied labels tend to lift off slightly
when held underwater for a long period, so if you plan to have a
bottle of wine rest in a tub of ice, we recommend it be applied
a week or two before your event if possible. The labels are not
designed to withstand long-term use in wet conditions such as in
a shower or dishwasher. |
Q.
What is the best way to be sure the labels are put on straight?
|
A. This is the best
way we have found: lay the container on its side on a flat surface
so you can look down at it. Peel the label off the carrier sheet.
Hold the label at the top center and the bottom center edges, visually
line it into position above the container, and then carefully press
onto the surface at those points. Rub it down carefully from the
center out to the edges. |
Q.
I want to hand-write my own words on my labels. Is that possible? |
A. Yes. When you order,
leave the text areas blank on the order form. Please be sure to
tell us in the special instructions box if you want to use the space
to write in; otherwise our designers will balance out the type.
Sharpies, Ball-point, felt-tip, and gel pens will work for hand-writing
on the light-colored areas of the labels, and light-colored gel
pens will work on the dark areas. We recommend testing on an area
prior to writing on them. We also highly recommend ordering at least
one extra sheet in case you make mistakes, or tears from removing
from your label. |
Q.
Can I run the labels through my home printer to add names to them? |
A. We do not recommend
sending our printed labels through a printer. The heat causes the
inks to soften which creates smearing and offsetting. We cannot
be responsible for damaged labels that are run through your printer.
|
|
| Spelling/Mistakes |
| Q. Do you make labels in foreign languages?
|
A. Yes, We create
them in French, and also in Spanish, German, Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese,
and Italian. Just write the words exactly as you want them to appear
on the label. Be sure to include accent marks. |
| Q. What if I do not like the labels?
|
A. We want you to
be absolutely delighted with your labels, and our money-back guarantee
proves it! If for any reason you are dissatisfied, please email
us or return the labels within 30 days with a note explaining the
reason for the return. We'll be happy to either correct them or
refund your purchase price. Sorry, we can't refund rush orders,
special requests, or orders held for more than 30 days. If you have
made a mistake on your order such as a name misspelled, we understand!
We will be happy to correct them and reprint at 50% off. |
Q.
I'm so afraid I'll get the date wrong! What will happen if I do?
|
A. We understand that
sometimes mistakes happen. If it's your mistake, we'll reprint for
50%. Of course, if it's our mistake we'll reprint at no charge.
In either case, we'll expedite your order to get it to you as quickly
as possible. |
|
| Q.
I have a very long last name: De Haas Van Dorsser. Can you make
a label for me that looks good? |
A. No problem! There
is a maximum number of characters for each text area (which you
will see when you order). Our specialized staff of type designers
will place your words in your label choice, and adjust the letter
sizing and spacing so it is visually balanced and exceptionally
beautiful. |

Q. How can
I be sure the shape I choose will fit my containers?
|
A. It's very important
to be sure the shape you choose fits your container well. The best
way to check is to go to the Shapes page, find the dimensions listed
under the label (in inches), then using a ruler draw the shape of
the label using those dimensions, cut it out, and lay it against
the container. This way you will be able to see exactly how it fits. |

Q. Can I use a different font style on a label?
|
A. Yes. To make a
special font request, click on the "Request a Color or Font
Change" box on the order form, and then describe the change
you want to make in the Change Request box. There is a $15 charge
for changing the font on the label. We can change the font on your
label to another font that appears on our website; please indicate
the label style, size and the number of the text area you want your
font to match. Be aware that script or cursive fonts often do not
display well in all capital letters, and some fonts are only available
in all capital letters. If you need a font we do not have, please
select a font from one of the following websites: myfonts.com,
fontsearchengine.com , fonts.com.
We will purchase it and use it on your labels, and you will be billed
for the cost of the font. |
We will contact you
if we have questions, but there is no refund on special request
orders such as font changes. |
Q. I ordered some labels from
you and they are the perfect color for my wedding! I want to re-order,
but want to be sure the new order will match the color of my first
order.
|
A. The color will
be extremely close. If you want to be sure of a perfect match, please
send us a label from your previous order so we can have a sample
to match to. Although we calibrate our printers every day, there
are still small changes in color because of daily changes in humidity
and temperature, as well as equipment changes such as ink levels
and oil density. |
|
|
Q. Can I have ingredients and
our address printed on my labels?
|
A. Yes, you can, by
ordering text labels (you can select them on the order page where
you type in the words you want on your label). Text labels are designed
for additional text such as ingredients, your address, or a story
about yourself or your product. Also, for beer labels, there is
a text add-on for label MBS1 (to select it, when you're on the order
page choose "text add-on"). |
Q. Do you have any suggestions
for wording, or examples of what other people have said on their
labels?
|
A. For lots of ideas,
go to Label
Ideas. In general, be descriptive! It’s nice to say something
special about the person (or persons) it’s in honor of, the
contents, the event or the location. |

| Q. What kinds of products do you make
labels for? |
| A. View our label
product list. |
Q.
I've picked out a label, but my words don't exactly fit the way
your labels are set up. Can you make a few changes for me? |
A. We may be able
to. If we can make an adjustment easily, we'll do so at no extra
charge. Just put your request in the special instructions box on
the order form. |
|
|
Q. What do the backs of the
hang tags look like, and can I have something printed on the backs?
|
A. The hang tags are
blank white paper on the back. They are square and do not fold.
You may have black-ink only printing or art on the backs of the
hang tags. There is an additional charge of $5 per set to print
on the back. Just ask in the special instructions box when you place
your order. |
|
|
Q. I want to add our photo
to the label. Any tips on how to send it?
|
|
A. When you place
your order, just check the "Add Photo/Art/Logo" box on
the order page, and then email us your photo. We will apply it to
the label(s) on your order. |
 |
Give us any instructions you have
for placement, cropping, or resizing in the special instructions
box on the order page. |
 |
There is a charge of $25 to add
your photo or art to each original. Sometimes a file requires additional
work; if this is the case we will contact you with an estimate before
proceeding. To help you send a file that will be in ideal condition
for printing, we’ve put together the tips below: |
 |
When scanning art or a photo,
scan at a resolution of 300 or more DPI (dots per inch). |
 |
When taking a digital photo, make
sure the camera is set to large/high resolution (usually 1536 x
2048 pixels), with a compression grade of superfine (highest quality).
On most cameras this option will be found in a menu item called
“image quality”. |
 |
Save file as a jpeg, tiff, or
EPS. Make sure the image hasn’t been compressed into a “thumbnail”
image, or shrunk below 3 inches square when it was stored on your
computer. |
 |
If your email won’t allow
you to send the image, mailing a copy of your art or photo (either
on a CD or the actual print for us to scan ourselves) is the best
bet for a great looking image. |
 |
We will contact you if we have
questions, but THERE IS NO REFUND ON SPECIAL REQUEST ORDERS SUCH
AS ADDING A PHOTO OR ART. |
